As I am specifically focusing on the North West and North East it’s always interesting to read new improvements local businesses are incorporating into their organisation through technology.
Earlier this year Vernon Land Transport installed a Delta warehouse performance system to support the growth within this 3PL. Vernon Land Transport is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire- which is its headquarters for third party storage and distribution. Vernon Land Transport operates throughout the UK and continental Europe and is expanding its warehouse capacity from 70,000 to 95,000 square feet, increasing its warehouses from seven to ten. The company’s eighty 3PL clients include air freight, pharmaceutical, printed matter, automotive, manufacturing, brewing and retail distribution specialists.
As stated by the Managing Director at Vernon Land Transport, this particular warehouse management system appears more user friendly and many of their direct competitors are already using this software.
Vernon Land’s new DeltaWMS will include radio frequency scanners and an interactive module that allows customers to input to and track their orders, online, 24/7. A single, networked DeltaWMS system will manage all Vernon Land’s warehouse units, which are grouped on the same site.
“The third party logistics market is arguably the most demanding for warehouse technology” says Delta Managing Director, Lance Bennett. “Delta’s growing 3PL market share and its adoption by many of the market leaders reflects our proven strengths and reputation in this arena”.
The DeltaWMS systems has been designed for all types of warehouse operations including distribution, third party, manufacturing and bonded, and consist of some well-known organisations such as The Co-op E-store, Eddie Stobart, Life Fitness, Maxi muscle, Toyota Tsusho, Pulleyn Transport and Pallet ways. Delta software has also been recorded as one of the UK’s fastest-growing supplier of interactive warehouse performance management systems, so we will no doubt see more and more logistics operations moving in the similar direction of technology.
