THE COMPANY

Our client is a renowned manufacturer or candles, accessories and home accents based in Barrow-In-Furness.

 

THE ROLE - Product Development Lead

  • To manage a team of New Products, Quality Assurance and Lab Technicians, along with Quality Inspectors.
  • To lead the integration of Quality Control & Assurance into the value streams whilst meeting the customer's needs, maintaining internal quality expectations within the production environment whilst increasing effectiveness and minimising lead time to market.
  • To support the value streams in identifying quality defects and working pro-actively to make improvements to existing products and processes that enhance product performance, efficiency, cost and value to the customer
  • To lead and manage Product Development of all New and Existing products
  • To ensure products and raw materials meet specifications, processes conform to pre defined settings and quality standard operating procedures are followed
  • Key interactions: QA & TD Manager. All members of the Value Stream, Materials Sourcing, Purchasing and Supply.

 

KEY DUTIES - Product Development Lead

  • New Product Development and Introduction Process
  • Process Audits
  • Product Costing
  • Staff Training
  • Evaluate existing processes to identify areas for improvement, ensuring full communication of findings.
  • Refine existing manufacturing processes and parameters, to optimise the manufacturing process
  • Advise on equipment modification to enable process changes for existing product development.
  • Ensure that robust, controlled laboratory testing is undertaken
  • Validate changes to existing processes and show that they are an improvement
  • Read and write technical reports, specifications, procedures and maintain appropriate records
  • Generate data to substantiate claims regarding the safety and quality of existing products
  • Benchmarking against Internal and External Facilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE - Product Development Lead

  • Chemistry knowledge is a MUST for this position, with a minimum A level qualification requried. Preference will be given to those with a degree in Chemistry.
  • Experience of improving existing product and processes in a FMCG Manufacturing business
  • Strong People Management skills
  • Dynamic and capable of developing people
  • Hands on, get it done demeanour
  • High attention to detail
