**TRANSPORT PLANNER (NIGHTS) - 3PL - FOOD RETAIL LOGISTICS - NEW START UP OPERATION - BRISTOL - £27,000 **
My client is a leading global third party logistics provider which due to continuing success is looking to recruit team of Transport Planning professionals to work at a new start up operation in Bristol on behalf of a high profile retail business.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible primarily for co-coordinating the transport operation of the depot to satisfy the needs of the network and the customer through the efficient use of cost effective planning methodologies using the Paragon system.
Main accountabilities to include although not necessarily limited to:
- Planning and allocating drivers to routes and ensuring the cost-effective deployment of resource to achieve contractual delivery times
- Maintaining the depot`s overall traffic schedule with up-to-date information ensuring that there are adequate transport provisions for the depot to meet its business objectives, ensuring physical demand is matched by site capability
- Liaising with line manager to ensure the effective use of hire vehicles / sub-contractors minimising the cost impact to the business
- Ensuring all traffic planning activity is undertaken in line with legislative requirements and using all appropriate I.T systems including Paragon
- Managing all incoming collection schedules by entering onto systems and validating the content against collection point criteria whilst identifying any potential issues
- Keeping overtime and agency usage to a minimum relating to company targets
- Providing a high level of customer service and communication, ensuring all information requests are dealt with in a timely manner
EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrable experience within a similar position Experience working in a customer focused, commercially driven environment
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK Transport planning skills, Paragon system skills are essential
- Working knowledge of driver hours regulations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
- An understanding of the financial impact of effective planning
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent organisational skills of self and others
- Ability to use effective communication skills
The successful candidates will complete a 2 month training and induction programme. Whilst training, shift patterns will be a combination of day and night shifts. On completion of the training programme you will commence a fixed night shift. All reasonable expenses will be covered for this period.
