**TRANSPORT SHIFT MANAGER (ROTATIONAL EARLIES & LATES SHIFTS) - RETAIL DISTRIBUTION - MANCHESTER - £28,000 to £33,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE + BONUS & BENEFITS - REPORTING TO THE OPERATIONS MANAGER**

ROLE

Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the running of the transport department on the designated shift (including, shift supervisors, drivers, planners and office staff).

You will ensure planning and telemetry software is utilised to deliver the planned workload for the shift, efficiently utilising both the available drivers and vehicles whilst maintaining a cost effective service to the customers.

You will work closely with the Warehouse management to ensure both departments are working in unison to achieve the overall targets for the site.

You will coach and develop your workforce to provide succession planning, as well as deputising for the Operations Manager when needed.

You will get involved with health and safety reviews as well as personnel issues, training and recruitment.

There are a number of KPI's which are essential to the effective running of the operation. You will help to deliver and exceed these Key Performance Indicators, as well as the collection and dissemination of data though analysis of the operation and regular team briefings.

EXPERIENCE

You will be an experienced and CPC qualified transport manager.

Experience of planning software such as Paragon and also TMS such as Masternaut or Microlise is essential.

You will have a good understanding of tachograph and driver's hour's regulations as well all legislation pertaining to road haulage.

You will have good man management skills, a positive and flexible attitude and a can-do approach.

You be highly customer focussed with a can-do attitude to resolving issues.

This is a heavily KPI driven environment, and so you will need excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills, be PC literate and strive to always exceed customer expectations.
