Katie Alderton - Financial Controller

​My Background:Having studied History at University, I decided to go into a completely different direction and go into Accountancy. I started my career in one of the UK’s largest electrical distribution company’s. I remained there for 3 years, started my CIMA qualification and developed my knowledge, before I decided to leave for a new challenge at Core Talent, where they continued to support my studies through the full qualification in January 2020My Role: My role currently is the Financial Controller of Core Talent. I help in all aspects in the Company, from Board level to Consultant level. My main priority recently has been to help support the Board in our strategy as we prepare for a really exciting few years of growth.My Progress:I started my career here as the Group Management Accountant with my main aim to bring the accounts function in house, I achieved this in 9 months and got promoted to Finance Manager. As our priorities changed in the company and we started to focus on our strategic plans, my role completely changed and was promoted to Financial Controller – all within 15 months of being in the Company. The best things:The best thing is definitely how social it is – we have weekly drinks and then a big social once a month. You really get a team mentality here, which I feel is rare in such a competitive industry.
