The Role

As a Buyer you will be responsible for buying various categories and will work alongside a team of Buyers, reporting in to the Purchasing Manager. There are elements of domestic and international travel involved in this role.

Key responsibilities include -

• Effectively build and manage relationships and in line with category strategies

• Monitoring supplier performance using agreed metrics and be responsible for communication and monitoring of improvement plans

• Managing costs (should-cost models, cost reductions, value creation, etc) and driving savings which will show in the P&L

• Working closely with sales, business development and finance with regards to upcoming needs

• Observing market tendencies (innovation, overall state of supplier market and vendors)

• Letting rules of engagement with divisions / country organisations (including subsequent control of compliance)

The Person

Based in the Stoke on Trent area, as Buyer my client are looking for candidates with the below experience
Essential:

• Strong category management experience

• A track record of supplier management

• Automotive or Heavy Engineering experience

• Experience of managing a large spend in a manufacturing environment

• Proven ability to drive cost reduction projects and change throughout organisation

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop methodologies for collecting and analysing data

• Strong negotiation skills and understanding of key contractual terms

Desirable:

• Ideally Degree educated

• MCIPS Preferred
