Buyer / Manufacturing / South Yorkshire / Contract

An ambitious and driven Buyer is required in South Yorkshire for a market leading engineering business. Our client are recognised as leaders in their field and have a very impressive portfolio of customers across their market. Due to continued growth of the business, they are now looking to strengthen their Procurement team on an initial 2 month contract basis.

THE ROLE:

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, you will be involved in the strategic development of the purchasing function. Working with the wider purchasing team, duties will be to rationalise and develop the supplier base, whilst also getting involved in the operational procurement activities. Key areas of focus will include will include the following;

• You will be involved with working with various departments including sales and engineering, centred around supplier sourcing/ selection

• Operational procurement, managing the day to day performance of key suppliers

• Market leading engineering business with a global customer base

THE PERSON:

• This role is ideally suited to a Buyer that has worked in technical manufacturing environment. On top of having strong communication and supplier management skills, key experiences will include;
  
  * Work proactively with minimal supervision, reporting as appropriate. A high sense of urgency, accountability, and commitment to delivering value to the organization
  * Ability to read and translate Engineering drawings and documentation
  * Exposure and experience in global and diverse manufacturing and assembly environments

• Ideally have experience of Direct and Indirect sourcing

• Strategic and operational procurement experience

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to communicate and present ideas at all levels

• Degree (engineering)/ CIPS qualification preferred, but not essential
