CMM Operator / Inspector

6 Month Contract

North East

£rate negotiable - based on experience

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for conducting inspection and measurements using portable coordinating measuring equipment in line with company + customer requirements. This will cover a range of the clients products. You will be requried to work shift patterns in line with production requirement.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Use of Romer / Faro Arm, CMM, Vernier/Micrometre and other inspection techniques

  • Communicate accurately to operators, section leaders and the quality department any deviations to customer drawings or specifications

  • Assist in evaluating and improving current manufacturing processes to reduce scrap and improve internal and external quality levels

  • Preparation of documentation and reports In line with company quality management system

  • Participate in and occasionally lead customers audits

  • Provide support to the Quality department and Production as required including operation first off approval, first article inspection reporting, investigation and problem solving and process auditing

Essential Experience

  • Polyworks and power inspect software is critical

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Knowledge of CAD is essential

  • Familiarity of holding fixtures for measurement

  • Experience in inspection and handling of exotic metals is preferred

  • Excellent understanding of technical engineering drawings, GD&T, FAIR's / ISIR's, SPC, Gauge R&R & 8D Reporting

  • Experience of programming and operating FARO / ROMER arms

  • Ability to read & interpret customer/internal procedures and acceptance standards

  • Must be computer literate with skills in Microsoft office, including outlook, word, PowerPoint and Excel
