We are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer for one of the UK's fastest growing Engineering businesses.
ROLE
Reporting directly to the Engineering Design Manager, the Design Engineer will be an integral member of the team, working with key Blue Chip customers. You will work closely with the Design Project team and become a subject matter expert on the product. Key responsibilities will include;
Modification of standard products to suit non-standard equipment
Bespoke design, using standard face geometry, for non-standard applications and equipment
Design of special test equipment to suit specific applications
Daily liaison with workshops and inspection departments on engineering issues for both standard and special products; solving problems and agreeing concessions
Working closely with project engineers to understand design parameters from concept through to production validation.
Investigating design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchange ability, cost, and operational efficiency.
Customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customer's requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.
PERSON
The Design Engineer will need to be a career driven professional with an ambition to further themselves. You will also be a strong team player. Key criteria for this Design Engineer role will be as follows;
Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical Design engineering position
Ideally experienced with sheet metal/ rotating equipment/ precision machined components
Experience using Solid Works or Solid Edge preferable, but not essential
Excellent communication skills
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
