Design Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced design engineer for a world renowned defence organisation based in Hampshire. This is a permanent role with a starting salary of £40,000 dependent on experience.
The Role
As a Design Engineer, you will be part of a dedicated multi-functional team, participating in a wide range of design activities developing new solutions, from concept through to delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer to get involved in design projects and delivering innovative work. The role presents the opportunity to put your mark on the products of the Boats Sector portfolio. The design engineer responsibilities will include:
Carrying out minor engineering projects from requirements definition through to delivery
Providing sound estimates for engineering work carried out
Creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, for a wide range of products from small components to whole vessel systems. Producing drawings in accordance with BS8888 Engineering Drawing standards
Implementing design changes and provide post-delivery support and resolve obsolescence issues
Carrying out engineering calculations as required for the project in their area of expertise
Drafting, vetting, and editing technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients
The Person
The design engineer should have the following experience
BEng Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent experience within a STEM related discipline
Experienced in 3D modelling, ideally using Siemens NX, and 2D drafting (Autocad or similar) for production and manufacturing
Awareness of Product Safety and SHE and the participation in HAZIDs
Knowledge of commercial and/or military small craft
Marine engineering or naval architecture knowledge is desirable
Demonstrable knowledge in Small Craft/boat design spiral systems design including electrical, fuel, bilge etc.
Capable of leading minor engineering small craft projects from requirement capture through to delivery is desirable
