The Role

Taking charge of the Engineering Design team, you will be responsible for taking the team to the next stage of growth and development to improve upon the teams' capability of delivering specialist products to the client's customer base. The Senior Engineering Manager will lead a cross functional team including: managers, design, stress, material, process. This role is suitable for a highly competent design-engineering manager who is capable of working across multiple disciplines. The role will also include:

  • Allocation of engineering resources to support the delivery of Projects
  • Responsible for all recruitment, career development, mentoring, training and development
  • Develop engineering processes and procedures, design guides
  • Work with projects and other engineering manager for supply of engineering resources
  • Management of technical development in line with technical skills and experience
  • Scope management, assigned resources, costs
  • Support bids and proposal activities
  • Collate and manage NPI, product development, CI and cost reduction projects to the wider team
  • Willing to travel in UK and internationally as required.
  • Play an active part in New Product Development

The Person

You will need to have the following:

ESSENTIAL

  • Automotive previous experience working in vehicle/craft development
  • 5 years Design/ Engineering management experience leading diverse teams
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with OEMs
  • Experience of the design lifecycle, verification and validation requirements, and production processes
  • Strong man manager
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

DESIRABLE

  • University degree (ideally in mechanical or engineering subject)
  • Chartered engineer
