Development Technologist

This is a chance to join a global food manufacturer who creates some of the world's most loved products. They have a reputation for creating the highest quality products on the market across numerous categories.

The Development Technologist will be working within the customer focused innovation team. You will manage all technical and admin elements of development. You will have the opportunity to work on short, mid and long term projects.

The Role:

  • Project manage an allocated project from the concept phase through to post launch review
  • Clarifying the brief and working with other team members to conduct feasibility studies
  • Arranging costs and briefing suppliers
  • Ensuring food regulations and customer requirements are met during every stage of development
  • Ensure recipe development, product and packaging design
  • Agreeing customer specifications with the NPD technical team and writing quality standards
  • Sign off on packaging artwork
  • Raise and communicate SAP codes
  • Clarify and develop product briefs with Commercial Managers, developing milestones for the customer and preparing supplier briefings
  • Being clear on time lines, customer expectations, policies, sample approval requirements, specifications, packaging, artwork and quality standards
  • Compile and ensure all that the development file containing, meeting information, BRC and customer information is available and up to date

Ideal Candidate:

  • A Degree or foundation in Food Technology or a relevant Science or applied Science subject
  • Previous demonstrated experience in the food industry in a NPD/ Development position
  • Understanding of HACCP and Microbiological standards
  • Experience in gathering and agreeing technical standards, demonstrating knowledge of regulatory requirements for food safety and labelling
  • Experience in creating and completing different format customer specification, including web based systems
  • Experience in processing Poultry/ Meat would be highly preferred, including experience of hygiene requirements for fully cooked ready to eat products
  • The ability to prioritise competing demands and work to tight customer and internal deadlines
