Digital Print Engineer

A new position is available with a Global Manufacturing Group.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

  • A strong understanding of print quality and image quality metrics with digital print - including knowledge of print and image quality standards

  • Ability to analyse print results, draw conclusions based on your print quality metrics, complete statistical analysis to see trends, suggest further experiments based on results, and write internal reports

  • Knowledge of substrate treatment and print quality enhancement techniques to improve print quality on difficult substrates

  • Deep understanding of instrumentation and methodology for measuring and analysing digital print quality

  • Ability to analyse trends in print behaviour and report conclusions through internal reports

  • Design of experiments to understand digital print quality under conditions of varying print speed, curing time and substrate type


The Person

Essential skills and experience:

  • A BSc in a relevant scientific discipline

  • Hands-on experience with digital presses (ink and toner) at both laboratory and production scale, with understanding of inkjet print head and toner drum physics.

  • Knowledge of the colloidal, physical and organic chemistry used in ink and toner formulations, and an understanding of the fundamental science behind pigment dispersion and stabilisation will truly stand out

  • Experience in the formulation and development of novel materials, ideally within the digital printing industry

  • Experience of working safely and efficiently in a lab environment
