The Role

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the Aerospace Engineering Project Manager will lead a cross functional team responsible for execution and delivery of Engineering Projects across the lifecycle, including NPD, in-production/in-service support. The role will also include:

  • Cradle to grave project management for launch & NPD
  • Management of technical solution development in line with technical skills and experience
  • Scope management, assigned resources, costs
  • Lead indirect project support including designers, stress engineers
  • Provide project control including progress and metrics
  • Collate and manage NPI, product development, CI and cost reduction projects to the wider team
  • Work with customer facing programme manager
  • Lesson learnt from design stages
  • Implementation phase of the project
  • Project budget, timing and profitability responsibilities
  • Initiate technical concepts and product costing
  • Report project status internally and externally and conducts reviews
  • Successful closure of Project

The Person

The experience required of the Aerospace Engineering Project Manager based from the Devon site will include:

ESSENTIAL

  • Aero/Defence experience
  • 5 years Project management experience leading engineering projects to develop aero/defence products or systems
  • Technical design background
  • New Product Development lifecycle (from qualification into series production)
  • Design lifecycle, verification & validation and production processes
  • Experience of leading project teams
  • Record of meeting Project Completion Dates
  • Project management tools and techniques to manage costs and schedule
  • Analytical and problem solving skills

DESIRABLE

  • University degree (ideally in mechanical or engineering subject)
  • Aircraft actuation systems, wings/ structures, fuel systems, avionics or landing gear experience
