Engineering Test Manager - £58,000 - Aerospace

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Test Manager will lead a small team of engineers. You will be responsible for the delivery of the development and qualification test programmes to support the full product lifecycle from NPI though to modifying and supporting in service products on various programmes. The role will also include:

  • Developing and maintaining the test capability for resource and hardware

  • Manage and develop the Test capability

  • You will need to be hands and expected to participate in the test activity

  • Interpret customer requirements / specifications

  • Identify means for verification of requirements

  • Create/modify technical technical documentations

  • Contribute to design plans, reviews and assist programme review

  • Plan and execute test plans

  • Participate in cross functional team and support problem solving and corrective actions

  • Resolve design issues, customer returns/failures

  • Configuration control

  • Work closely with other team managers

  • Define and introduce new test rigs for testing new products

  • H&S of areas

The Person

The experience required of the Aerospace Test Manager based from the Gloucester site will include:


  • Solid engineering design background

  • Aero/Defence experience

  • Minimum 5 years Test experience

  • Experience of testing hydraulics based equipment

  • Mechanical / electro-mechanical actuators/ valves experience

  • Project management experience

  • Understanding of instrumentation

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


  • Experience of leading teams

  • University degree (ideally in mechanical or engineering subject)

  • Labview experience

  • Aircraft actuation systems, wings/ structures, fuel systems, avionics or landing gear experience
