We are currently looking for an Environment and Sustainability manager for a global client who specialise in manufacturing equipment for construction, agriculture, waste handling, and demolition. This exciting opportunity is based in Staffordshire with a salary ranging between £65,000 - £75,000 plus car and an excellent bonus scheme.

The role

The Environment and Sustainability manager will oversee compliance with environmental, energy and carbon legislation, including Producer responsibility, Environmental Permitting and Industrial Emissions (solvents) regimes and substances of concern. Other responsibilities include:

  • Agreeing and driving delivery of Science Based Targets globally
  • Identifying and embedding best practice for environmental sustainability across manufacturing operations, supply chain and engineering innovations
  • Developing communications and messaging for sustainability in conjunction with marketing and sales teams
  • Briefing senior team on progress against KPIs and recommended direction
  • Governance processes and management systems
  • Customer-facing meetings and presentations
  • Strategy and policy development
  • Supporting Sustainability teams globally
  • Tracking policy and legislative updates and direction
  • Providing expertise and support across the business on environmental sustainability matters
  • Training and awareness development
  • Representing the business on external bodies

The Person

Based in the Rocester office the Environment and Sustainability manager will have the following skills:

  • Relevant degree and Postgraduate qualification (Environmental Management, Sustainable Development, Resource management, Climate Change, Env Policy) (Could be postgrad only is in relevant subject)
  • Senior Membership of Professional body - Full Membership, Chartership (e.g. Institute of Environmental Scientists, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment , Chartered Institutes of Water and Environmental Management)
  • 10+ years relevant experience - e.g. in a range of industries including Manufacturing
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work within a global environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Technical competency in environmental management and impacts, carbon, waste and supply chain risks
