Reporting to the Plant Manager, the role of Head of Engineering will take responsibility for Maintenance, Manufacturing and Process teams.

The Job

Key elements include;

  • Project Management of new machine installations

  • Manage extensive tooling stores and requirements

  • Drive uptime whilst managing and developing KPI's (including OEE, MTBF, MTTR).

  • Develop maintenance systems and procedures to improve equipment availability and reliability, as well as reduce changeover times and cost per unit.

  • Develop and drive HSE procedures and policies in conjunction with EHS department. Ensure legislative compliance and adherence to corporate policies.

  • Management of subcontractors, control and issuing of work permits and scheduling of works.

  • Liaise with Quality department to ensure suitable procedures and documentation are in place and completed to maintain and improve Quality standards.

  • Effectively manage engineering and maintenance budget Initiate projects and investigate opportunities to reduce spend on utility services, specifically energy costs.

The Person

As Head of Engineering you will be HNC/HND mechanical engineering qualified with a strong automotive background ideally within an OEM or 1st Tier JIT environment having had good working knowledge of assembly processes. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth experience of developing maintenance systems for a range of new and legacy equipment. Experience of modern improvement techniques (TPM, RCM, Lean etc) is essential to the success of this role. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate strong organisation & management experience as well as clear communication skills.
