Interim Factory Manager / Operations Manager & Project Manager

Europe & West Yorkshire

12 Month Contract

£Negotiable Rates

We are currently looking for an experienced Factory Manager / Operations Manager with a strong track record of delivering international production transfer projects within manufacture.

Initially you will be responsible for the management of a factory in Europe (due to confidentiality reasons the exact location will be revealed during the initial agency screening call) leading a team of circa 50 employees.

It is expected that this part of the assignment will last between 4 and 6 months and during some point within that timeframe an announcement will be made that the factory will be closing with production being transferred to a site in West Yorkshire.

Your role will then switch to that of a Project Manager with responsibilities to lead the production transfer to the UK.

  • Ensure that business continues as normal at the site in Europe up until the announcement is made that the factory will be closing.

  • Work with the local management team at the European site to prepare for the closure announcement, ensuring all local employment laws are adhered to.

  • Maintain production levels once the closure announcement has been made.

  • Prepare a project plan to facilitate production transfer to the UK.

  • Lead the transfer of production from Europe to the UK, working closely with key stakeholders in West Yorkshire.

Ideally our client would prefer the successful candidate to base themselves in Europe full time over the course of the first half of the contract in order to maximise their time on site. Accommodation will be provided.

If that is not possible they will consider flying someone out to site on a weekly basis so that they can return to the UK each weekend.

Once the first part of the assignment is complete you will return to the UK and base yourself out of the companies site in West Yorkshire with travel to Europe as and when required.

  • Experience leading a manufacturing operation is required, preferably within a mechanical engineering environment.

  • A track record leading production transfers is required. It would be helpful if you also have experience closing factories.

  • The client is looking for someone with experience of working internationally previously.
