Interim Material Planner

North West - Commutable from Greater Manchester, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan

6 Month Contract

We are currently looking for an Interim Material Planner on behalf of a manufacturer in the North West.

On offer is an initial 6 month contract to support our customer following a recent SAP implementation project, however there is a good possibility of an extension / permanent work beyond.

Position Summary

The role requires the position holder to undertake a range of Purchasing / Planning activities within the European Supply chain team.

They will be required to support the purchasing /Planning function, identify commercial opportunities and undertake negotiations involving some RFQ's with a view to deliver enhanced delivery benefits, whilst leveraging volumes but overall mitigating delivery risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Placing & expediting purchase orders relating to the procurement of direct spend

  • Updating the ERP system in line with latest supplier commitments

  • Support resourcing activities as required

  • Develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely and effective service

  • Communicate queries and provide delivery, quality & cost feedback to suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Assist with the implementation of supplier corrective action plans to achieve improved performance & efficiencies through the Supply and Demand plan

  • Negotiate purchase prices and lead times as required

  • Provide and maintain delivery workbooks for specific suppliers

  • Support RFQ (request for quotation) as required

  • Support planning requirements

  • Create, develop & maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and colleagues within the Supply Chain function

Job Holder - Essential Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a commercial material planning role within an engineering / manufacturing environment

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)

  • Proficient user of SAP

  • Good knowledge of MRP
