Manufacturing Engineer

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing as a manufacturing engineer you will be responsible for driving manufacturing improvements aligned to new project implementation.

  • Utilising resource of Technicians and Operators to control and reduce costs, waste and compress changeover and lead times

  • SOPs to ensure standards & plan and design systems to increase business performance

  • Improves efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout,

  • PFMEAs

  • Customer/supplier facing and managing

  • Observe operators in method studies/ takt times for process improvement ie.5S

  • Process improvements including Process flows and layouts to operating systems, processes and plant and fulfil safety requirements

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes

  • Process commissioning and sign off into production

  • Implement plans created by the Process Engineers and manage projects

  • Work methods

  • Project work / CAPEX & liaise with purchasing

  • Project Manage suppliers of this equipment to ensure time plans are followed and delivery/installation is achieved on time and in full

  • Visual Management Implementation

  • Initiate/assist in action plans to counteract non-conformances post audits

  • Constantly strive to be proactive and drive continuous improvement

THE PERSON:

Based out of the Coventry office, the ideal Manufacturing engineer will have the following skills and experience;

ESSENTIAL

  • 5-6 years' in similar role in an Automotive tier 1 or OEM

  • Continuous Improvement and basic lean skills

  • Knowledge of production philosophies & Lean (kanban, SMED, etc)

  • Proven track record of specialism in Cell/process layout and flow design.

  • Supplier Management for the Manufacture and installation of Equipment

  • NPI

  • Supplier management experience

  • fault finding& problem solving skills

  • Project management

DESIRABLE

  • Qualification-degree or HNC/HND

  • Experience of work measurement and method study/MTM/MOST

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

  • Lean Manufacturing Certificate
