Company Overview: Leading general contractor specializing in large-scale construction projects across various industries. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join our team for an exciting data centre project in Norway. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge infrastructure in a rapidly growing sector.

Position Overview: As the Mechanical Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the mechanical construction activities related to the data centre project. Your role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the successful execution of the project within budget and timeline constraints. Your expertise in mechanical systems, equipment, and construction methodologies will be critical to the project's success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for the mechanical construction activities.
    • Coordinate with the project team to ensure alignment with overall project goals and objectives.
    • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders, identifying and addressing any deviations or obstacles.
  2. Mechanical Systems Management:

    • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and other relevant systems.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review and approve mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment selections.
  3. Contractor and Vendor Management:

    • Select, manage, and coordinate subcontractors and vendors involved in the mechanical construction activities.
    • Evaluate subcontractor proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee their work to ensure quality, adherence to specifications, and timely delivery.
    • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
  4. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and delays.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Address any issues or disputes that arise during the construction process and propose resolutions to maintain project momentum.
  5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Provide leadership and guidance to the mechanical construction team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
    • Facilitate effective communication between team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Mentor and develop junior team members, encouraging their professional growth and success.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is desired
  • Right to work in Norway is required
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, specifically overseeing mechanical construction projects, preferably in the data centre or industrial sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and construction methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver results within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
