Mechanical Project Engineer

12 Month+ Contract

Currently recruiting on behalf of a M&E Tier 1 Contractor for a Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a Mixed-Use building services Project in London. The role is expected to last for at least 12 Months and the business has a strong order book for 2020 and beyond.

The Role

  • Project handover from tendering (Estimating Department) to the Construction team

  • Validate all services including specification / plant & equipment schedules / drawings and fully understand all different schemes required by the Client

  • Review the Project requirements in detail and fully understand all different systems and establish that all requirements are covered to meet with the client and contract requirements

  • Generate technical queries to seek clarification of the project requirement

  • Raise any RFI's or TQ's to the client for missing or insufficient design

  • Interact with the Client, Builder and Consultants and establish good relationships through a professional, personable approach and timely response to their requirements

  • Prepare and submit Inspection and Test Plans at the start of the Construction phase

  • Attend progress meetings with Client / Builder and other trades and record meeting minutes

  • Understand contract / scope remit and ensure any potential change is identified and flagged up to PM (where appointed) and QS

  • Have ability to review / adjust installation programme from time to time to recover lost time without adding costs to the project

  • Produce Inspection Testing / Commissioning and Handover programme

  • Maintain and update the Inspection Test and Commissioning Plans throughout the construction and handover phases. Ensure that these are completed as the works progress and that the client has witnessed and signed off

  • Understand testing and commissioning procedures, in relation to Electrical or Mechanical requirements and develop test records in accordance with NICEIC or CIBSE guidelines

  • Actively contribute to successful teamwork within the project team

The Person

  • A minimum of three years' experience in mechanical installation

  • Experience of project engineering / CAD within the construction industry

  • Good communication skills and ability to motivate a project team

  • Sound knowledge of environmental and health & safety legislation, including railway industry standards

  • Good working knowledge to review and work on AutoCAD / Microstation and systems at supervisory or technical level

  • Installation experience 'on the tools'

  • Preferred HNC or Degree in relevant discipline

  • ECA, HVCA or equivalent CSCS Card Platinum or Black
