We are currently looking for a process technologist for prestigious aerospace company based in Lancashire, who specialise in component manufacturing. This permanent role with a negotiable salary dependent on experience as well as a company bonus, pension and life insurance.

THE ROLE:

This role will be predominantly based in the laboratory and will be responsible for the support and analytical control of the manufacturing special process. Mainly you will be responsible for the heat treatment process of components. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to.

• Providing technical support and training in special processes

• NADCAP & customer audit preparation. Conduct internal quality audits, Root Cause Corrective

• Preparation and testing of samples (metallographic, hardness, etc)

• Preparation of laboratory procedures, data cards and work instructions.

• Supporting wider laboratory activities (Planning / FAIRs, control of special process consumables etc)

• Analysing and recording data, technical qualification and failure investigation supported by the production of written laboratory reports.

THE PERSON:

Based in the Burnley office, the ideal process technologist will have the following skills and experience

• Academic background in a technical subject (Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, etc) (A-Level / HND / Degree). Metallurgy or material science desirable

• Experience of working within military or civil aviation

• Meticulous attention to detail and analytical problem solving skills

• Previous experience of welding (TIG, Resistance, Laser), brazing (Vacuum / Touch), thermal/plasma coatings, non-conventional machining (Laser / EDM) would be an advantage.
