Operations Director

£80,000 - £90,000 plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established Automotive Tier 1 supplier based in Birmingham who are going through a period of cultural and process change. They are now looking for a dynamic Operations Director to lead both these changes and to help drive performance and improvements through the factory.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director you will have the autonomy to manage the Manufacturing, Production, MP&L and Engineering functions with a Tier 1 Automotive manufacturer based in Birmingham.

Key tasks are to deliver on production targets, lead process and cultural change and further implement a lean manufacturing strategy.

The Person

We are looking to recruit an Operations Director who can lead, motivate and challenge a team in a highly pressurised, fast paced 1st Tier environment. You will have experience of strategic leadership but also comfortable with hands on, shop floor elements of the role.

It is essential that you are from an automotive background experienced in supplying in to an OEM environment with short lead times. Candidates without experience in an OEM, Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive environment will not be considered for this role but may be considered for other Operations roles in the future.

Candidates should have strong Production and Manufacturing management experience as well as an exposure to managing Engineering and MP&L teams. A lean approach to reducing waste, improving processes and saving costs is essential. You should be a strong man manager and able to empower and get the best out of your teams.

It is preferred that candidates are Degree educated but this is not essential. Six Sigma Certification, ideally Green or Black Belt, would be beneficial.

The Company

Our client is a leading automotive 1st Tier organisation going through a period of change but with a healthy forward order book. They are meritocratic as a business and offer opportunities for progression and development to those that apply themselves.
