OPERATIONS MANAGER- BLUE CHIP ENGINEERING BUSINESS
£60,000- £70,000+ BONUS/PACKAGE/ BENEFITS
Excellent opportunity! We are recruiting for an Operations Manager for our client, a Blue Chip Engineering businesses. This role has excellent opportunities for development and progression into wider operations management within the business.
Reporting directly to the MD, the Operations Manager will be managing a team that encompasses Production, testing & Inspection, Engineering & CI. Your main duties will involve providing day-to-day direction and guidance so that relevant KPIs and company objectives for Production are met or exceeded, promoting a safety first culture at all times.
To determine and manage production schedules and resource plans in line with our Quality Management System (QMS ) so that all products are produced on time and are of the correct quality and at optimum cost efficiency.
To work closely with production planning to develop and implement a stock and materials strategy to ensure accurate inventory and continuous flow to packing and shipping to meet production demand.
To create a 'centre of excellence' ideology within Operations through perfect visualization, 5S management and continuous improvements.
To ensure appropriate communication channels are established and maintained to the customer and internal stakeholders including the Senior Management Team (SMT)
To liaise directly with the Maintenance department as Operations Manager, to ensure that all machines are kept within the specified planned maintenance schedules.
To manage the development of the team in line with performance management procedures within the business.
The ideal Operations Manager will have a strong background in Production/ Operations management, ideally within in Engineering environments, and be confident communicating at all levels.
4 years+ experience overseeing production/ operations teams
Experienced within demanding engineering environments, such as machining/ Fabrications (other engineering backgrounds can be considered!)
Good understanding of modern lean manufacturing techniques and practices
Ability to lead and develop teams
Strong communication skills
Degree/ Industry qualifications (NEBOSH/ SIX Sigma) preferred, but not essential
