I am recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager for a specialist rail, M&E Contractor. They are looking for someone who has successfully led and managed a team of planning engineers. The ideal candidate will report to the Operations Director and will have a proven track record of achievement delivering complex projects within Commercial, Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects (EPC).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing support, general programming and planning assistance to Senior Managers and project team members to ensure that the planning and scheduling of work on projects and activities are effectively planned, resourced, and completed

  • Supporting the team of Planning Engineers in the application of best practice for project planning and controls

  • Ensure all planning and project control processes are implemented across the business

  • Work with the project managers, planning engineers and quantity surveyors to ensure reporting requirements are in place including Earned Value Analysis

  • Work with Estimating to produce tender programmes, advise risks and opportunities to the Estimating team

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in P6 and ASTA

  • Has an engineering background (either in degree form or time-served apprentice)

  • Strong M&E background

  • Highly developed team working/team leader skills

  • Very good working knowledge of Microsoft packages

  • A clear understanding of Project Planning principles including critical path analysis and all other general time management techniques used within the construction industry

  • Expert level knowledge on contract conditions to include all NEC3 and 4 forms of contract
