Process Engineer- Automotive

Birmingham

£35,000 - £40,000

We are currently looking for a skilled process engineer for a prestigious Automotive business based in the Birmingham area, paying between £35,000 - £40,000. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager you will be part of a team running the manufacturing /process operation. Key responsibilities for the Process engineer will include;

  • support, develop and introduce new manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities in order to increase capacity, throughput, improve safety and product quality and reduce manufacturing costs

  • Support NPI to ensure manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities are capable and effective in the delivery of required outputs

  • Development of modern CI and lean manufacturing culture

  • New manufacturing processes, equipment & facilities: including specifications, potential suppliers, negotiate and agree costs within budget targets, CAPEX and implementation

  • Current processes improvements including: identifying waste and cost reduction opportunities

THE PERSON:

Based out of the Birmingham office, the ideal manufacturing/process engineer will have the following skills and experience;

ESSENTIAL

  • Qualification relevant whether degree or HNC/HND

  • 3years minimum experience in role

  • Project management capability

  • Continuous Improvement and basic lean skills

  • Ability to read design specifications and technical drawings

  • Good fault finding and analytical problem solving skills

  • Strong PC skills and competent with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experienced using Auto CAD or similar drafting package

DESIRABLE

  • Automotive tier 1 experience

  • Experience of work measurement and method study/MTM/MOST

  • Knowledge of production philosophies & Lean (kanban, SMED, etc)
