The Role

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Product Safety Engineer will be responsible for all equipment safety for New Product, Modifications to existing products. Also responsible for:

  • Planning, prioritising work, supervision and ensuring that tasks are undertaken in a professional and timely manner

  • Produce all relevant documentation in accordance with legislation, regulations and contractual requirements

  • Working to safety management systems

  • Work alongside project managers for any project related tasks

  • Work as part of design team

  • Advise on all product and system related safety matters

  • Mentor other team members in the development of products using Safety engineering practice

  • Follow regulation requirements

  • Safety cases

  • Technical documentation

  • Identify risk

  • Liaise with customers, project teams, internal and external

  • Produce safety arguments

  • Advise on design safety requirements

  • Manage all design qualification and certification and aim for Right First Time

The Person

ESSENTIAL

  • Degree

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in safety, Airworthiness

  • Strong understanding of safety & compliance

  • Experience in AS9100 / Aerospace flight equipment

  • Electrical/electronic systems

  • Understand MoD safety and regulatory standards and policies

  • Defence Standard 00-56 and DSA02-DMR

  • Solid understanding of Safety engineering principles

  • Develop documentation in line with industry UK MoD regulations

  • Risk assessments

  • Safety Assessments reports

  • Understanding of technical drawing

  • Compliance verification

  • Experience with change control

  • Self starter

DESIRABLE

  • MOD maritime

  • Environmental experience would be an advantage

  • University degree (ideally in engineering or business)

  • IT literacy
