Production Engineer - Automotive

Coventry

We are currently looking for a Production Engineer for a prestigious Automotive business based in the Coventry area, paying c.£35,000. The business have a market leading product with a global customer base and are looking to bring someone into their successful engineering team immediately.



Job Purpose

  • To work as part of the Production Engineering team to ensure the development and delivery of quality production engineering solutions in response manufacturing needs

  • To ensure efficient production methods are established and maintain continuous improvement of production operations.

  • Establish productive working relationships with design, production and planning Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Design Engineering department to formulate a manufacturing process for new product

  • Work closely with Manufacturing to develop a cost-effective and working production process of new product

  • Improve the present manufacturing and production processes to improve productivity, quality, and profitability for a company;

  • To continually seek to improve manufacturing performance in Quality, cost and delivery using available tools and methodology i.e. Time measurement, FMEA, Lean , 6 sigma, SMED, 5s;

  • Strong innovative problem solving skills;

  • To support manufacturing, respond to concerns / problems and investigate and action NCR's

  • To create new routings and routing amendments.

  • To justify the purchase of consumable tooling and equipment.

  • Strong 'design for manufacture' skills;


The Person

  • MUST HAVE Work study/ Time Study (MTM) expertise

  • Process improvements

  • Project work

  • Previous automotive experience

  • Worked in a CNC Machining environment (Desirable)

  • Previous experience saving costs

  • NPI experience

  • Experience of high volume manufacture

  • confident decision maker and proactive problem solver (8D, Six Sigma)
