Core Talent are currently looking for Construction Project Engineers of all levels with experience within the Cabling and/or Civils industries. We are working with an exciting and ever-growing tier 2 contractor who specialise predominantly in HV Cable Installation & Jointing, UK wide and up to and including 400kV, working with all the major Network providers including National Grid, Western Power Distribution, Northern Power Grid and more. Though they are a Tier 2 contractor, they often take on Tier 1 responsibilities and have ambitious, yet realistic growth plans which could see them increase 10-fold in the next 5 years. As their project portfolio and capabilities within the industry increase, so does their need for Engineering support. They are looking for Project Engineers with High Voltage/Cabling/Heavy Civils experience to help efficiently and effectively run projects and be a vital line of communication between the site teams, senior members of the business and the end client.
Role and responsibilities:
- Demonstrate and take responsibility for the highest standards of safety, health and welfare for everyone on site, visitors and the general public
- Support the Project Manager to manage commercial and business risks to achieve targets.
- Ensure that works are accurately and clearly set out before they are programmed to commence.
- Monitor the work to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
- Prioritise and organize project tasks into the required timeline
- Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field
- Translate client requirements into practical terms and communicate effectively with site teams to ensure full understanding of information provided.
- Identify problems with the project, taking the lead on developing solutions and ensuring solutions are implemented
- Arrange formal checking of setting out and ensure check request form is completed.
- Maintain high survey book and daily diary standards
- Manage subcontractors and their works, challenging any cost, scope, progress, safety or quality issues, and reorganising works where appropriate.
- Manage the delivery of assigned Inspection Test Plans to enable the sequential sign-off of individual packages of work
- Aid in preparation of programmes if required
- Produce written risk assessments and method statements
- Maintain overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel performance) and report regularly on project status.
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
- Undertake the role and responsibilities of Site Manager as required with particular emphasis on CDM and the supervision of sub-contractors
- Represent the business in a professional manner at meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
The individual (essential in bold)
- Relevant degree qualification (Civil engineering)
- Site experience within a relevant industry - graduates with 1-2 years site experience will be considered for the role.
- SMSTS OR SSSTS
- CSCS
- Prepared to travel to site and stay away to meet project needs
- 3 day First Aid certification
- Temporary works experience/qualifications
- GPS Trimble/total station experience
- Experience in P6
- Ability to set out to high standard, follow processes, fill in documentation to a high calibre, fill out ITPs, Support with HSE, manage workforce and supervise tasks alongside the Site Manager.
- IT literate
- Detail driven, hungry to prove themselves, learn new skills and problem solvers.
