An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a global Automotive manufacturer as Sales Director, heading up the UK team, working with a number of world class OEM customers. This role is based in their Birmingham office and is commutable from most parts of the West Midlands including Telford, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, Worcestershire, Redditch, West Bromwich, Staffordshire and surrounding areas.


Reporting to the Global Sales Director you will manage the business' numerous UK Automotive OEM accounts whist looking at strategic growth potential new customers and opportunities to diversify in to other technical markets.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing a strategy for the businesses UK Automotive business covering the entire project life cycle from conception to completion.

  • Leading a team of over 20 direct/indirect headcount including Sales Managers, Key Account Managers and Junior Account Managers

  • Managing the relationship with existing customers, looking for greater product penetration

  • Ensuring Key Account Managers are accurately deployed with OEM customers

  • Develop, inspire, motivate and manage the team in line with the businesses model

  • Meeting and exceeding annual sales targets

  • Looking at strategic growth and business opportunities with new OEM customers

  • Exploring opportunities to develop new business opportunities with cross over industries such as Yellow Goods, Commercial Vehicle, Off-Highway, Rail etc

  • Analysing competitors, their organization, distribution, strategy and pricing. Drive benchmarking exercises to ensure the business offer a competitive and attractive proposition based on cost, quality, delivery and customer buying experience

  • Building relationships with other participating departments and product line management to assist in the development of marketing and product strategies


The Person

We are looking for an experienced Sales Director with a proved record in Automotive supply.

Candidates without direct experience working in automotive manufacturing and supply unfortunately cannot be considered for this role.

It is essential you have -

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Automotive sales

  • Technical and/or commercial education (Bachelors, Masters degree or similar) background or product interest

  • A minimum of 2 years at Head of Sales or Sales Director level

  • Exceptional man management skills and the ability to monitor and drive team performance

  • Able to work self-motivated, independent and in international reporting line

  • A natural seller with strong business development skills

  • A persuasive, motivating and winning personality

  • Competent in creating and holding professional presentations with demanding OEM customers
