Senior Design Engineer

£40,000-£45,000 + Excellent Benefits

We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer just outside of Chesterfield to join a rapidly expanding, global engineering business.

Role

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Design Engineer will be a leading part of the team working across a variety of different project with a variety of large Blue Chip organizations. Receiving full, ongoing training you will work closely with the Project team to understand the concept definitions, turning concepts into patented working prototypes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Investigating design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchange ability, cost and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee the daily activities of the design team, to ensure that the team is working within the agreed project plan, and ensuring all project goals and objectives are being met.

  • Customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customers' requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.

  • Infuse best-in-class design disciplines and processes in to the operation and check and verify accuracy and completeness of all finished drawings.

Person

  • Educated to at least HNC level (Degree preferred but not essential)

  • 4 years+ experience in a precision engineering environment

  • Understanding of design process, design research, prototyping and manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient in CAD Packages (SolidWorks/SolidEdge/Inventor)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong team player

  • Ambitious individual keen to progress within the business
