Are you looking for a new M&E Rail opportunity?

I am currently looking to speak to Senior M&E QS who are open to new opportunities working for large sub-contractors working on commercial rail projects based near to Cardiff.

The Client:

The client which I am currently representing is looking to add to their commercial team by bringing in a Senior M&E QS who has experience working rail projects under the NEC option 3 & 4 contracts.

This client is rapidly becoming a market leader within the M&E Rail sectors and are currently turning over around £100M per year. Due to this success, they have recently won more work and are looking to add to their commercial team.

This company is privately owned and can offer excellent salaries and career progress to their successful applicant as well and working on some really exciting projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on developing and agreeing a target cost / lump sum for the contract.

  • Lead on developing a validated budget to build.

  • Administer the applicable NEC 3 option in full and in the timescales required.

  • Price submit and agree quotations for compensation events.

  • Ensure positive cash flow on the project.

  • Manage all sub-subcontracts.

  • Produce detailed cost & sale report monthly.

  • Create and regularly update costed risk & opportunity schedule.

  • Set up and update revenue and cash flow forecast monthly.

  • Ensure impact programmes are submitted with each quotation.

  • Set up a template and utilise the information produced by the project team to produce an earned value analysis for labour.

  • Meet with and maintain good professional relations with the clients QS.


  • Minimum 3 years working as a Senior QS with clear career progression shown.

  • Has managed contracts under NEC 3 Option A & C.

  • Track record of delivering projects from start to final account.

Must have:

  • Degree qualification in quantity surveying.

  • Extensive Tier 2 M&E Subcontractor experience.

  • Capability to measure and price Mechanical, Electrical, Fire & Comms systems independently.
