We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a global defence and aerospace company based in Surrey. This is a permanent role with a competitive salary and excellent benefits

The role

As the senior mechanical design engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design engineering on assigned projects which will include but not limited to, ship and vehicle installation and integration of a variety of equipment, from design and verification for housings, installations and the generation of production drawings and documentation for in-house or external manufacture. Other responsibilities include:

  • Ensure mechanical designs meet client, end user requirements

  • Provide regular review and validation of drawings, part libraries and engineering designs submitted by the team

  • Provide on-site customer support

  • (presentations and fault-finding) as required.

  • Report on project assigned tasks and create technical reports and documentation to specified standards for internal and external release

The Person

The ideal Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will have the following skills:

  • Extensive experience in mechanical design, preferably in the Defence & Aerospace industry

  • Proven experience with all aspects of mechanical design engineering

  • Comprehensive experience with AutoCAD/Inventor and good IT skills

  • Be self-motivated with a passion to learn, teach and create new and unique designs and capabilities
