Senior Process Engineer- Automotive

£45,000 - £55,000

We are currently looking for a skilled senior process engineer for a prestigious Automotive business based in the Birmingham area, paying up to £55,000 depending on experience. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager you will be part of a team running the manufacturing /process operation. Key responsibilities for the Process engineer will include;

  • Be part of a very pro-active manufacturing team that will work together to deliver a best in class process solution.

  • Identify known technologies and push new processes for best in class manufacturing practices.

  • Contribute to the develop and continually improve of process specifications and statement of work documentation.

  • Development & optimisation of headliner processes through VB, HTFB builds. Manage suppliers for complex high value tooling

  • support, develop and introduce new manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities in order to increase capacity, throughput, improve safety and product quality and reduce manufacturing costs

  • Generate standard operation instructions for process and tool changes

  • Support NPI to ensure manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities are capable and effective in the delivery of required outputs

  • Development of modern CI and lean manufacturing culture

  • New manufacturing processes, equipment & facilities: including specifications, potential suppliers, negotiate and agree costs within budget targets, CAPEX and implementation

  • Current processes improvements including: identifying waste and cost reduction opportunities

THE PERSON:

Based out of the Birmingham office, the ideal manufacturing/process engineer will have the following skills and experience;

ESSENTIAL

  • 5 years experience in a relevant role within a Tier 1 automotive environment

  • Good understanding of headliner forming machines and process development

  • Experienced in understanding & analysing CAE

  • Continuous Improvement and basic lean skills

  • Ability to understand & review 2D & 3D tool designs

  • Good fault finding and analytical problem solving skills

  • Strong PC skills and competent with Microsoft Office applications

DESIRABLE

  • Experience with interior plastics trim advantageous

  • Knowledge & understanding of press forming, lamination and edge wrapping technologies
