We are currently looking for a skilled Senior Quality Engineer for a prestigious Automotive supplier in the Manchester area, paying a competitive salary. The business have a market leading product with a global customer base and are looking to bring someone into their successful engineering team immediately.


Reporting to the Quality Manager you will be a senior member of a team running the Quality department.

You will also look to develop the organisation, operational and quality department in terms of Quality in conjunction with applicable Customer Specific Requirements, IATF, associated Core tools and Best Practice.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for defining, formulating, implementing and administering the business Quality Management System (QMS) and strategic initiatives to achieve short and long term quality improvement initiatives (including all associated Policies, Procedures, Work-Instructions

  • Drives the team to plan, organise and execute Internal Quality Audit processes to maintain compliance to documented quality systems

  • Reviews daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly metrics to help determine priorities

  • Responsible for the reduction of internal & external customer PPM

  • Lead (and advises) problem solving efforts and teams using 8-D methodology to complete failure analysis investigations in order to resolve customer complaints using best practice problem solving methodologies (e.g. 5Y, Cause & Effect, 8-D)


Based out of the Manchester office, the ideal Senior Quality Engineer will have the following skills and experience -


  • A minimum 5 years of experience and fully conversant with TS16949/IATF - those without exposure with TS16949 will not be considered

  • Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans)

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier background

  • Possess excellent problem solving, decision-making, and root-cause analysis skills in addition to interpersonal

  • HNC in Engineering or Technical subject

  • Live within a commutable distance of Manchester


  • IATF:16949 Auditor
  • Working knowledge and understanding in MSA, Statistical Process Control, statistics, product & process variation

  • Experience managing, leading or mentoring a team

  • Health and Safety Awareness/Training
