Core Talent are currently looking for a skilled Technical Author for a prestigious client of ours who, founded over 50 years ago, design, manufacture and install cutting-edge engineering equipment. The company are based in Greater Manchester and are offering a permanent role with a hybrid of office based and work from home options with salaries ranging from £30,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience.This is an exciting opportunity to join a market leader in the industry and become an integral part of the construction branch of their business.
The main purpose of the role is to produce contract-specific documentation turnover packages to support specialist equipment, sub-supplied equipment and material aspects of turnkey projects, reporting directly into the Technical Publications team leader.
Responsibilities
Produce O&M manuals and ad-hoc technical documents from source information such as engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications and internal / external SMEs
Interpret CAD drawings: general arrangements, P&IDs
Interrogate schematic circuit drawings (electrical, pneumatic etc.)
Work on multiple projects at one time
Demonstrate an excellent command of the English language: grammar, punctuation, syntax
Work to KPIs
Comply with company branding and house style
Be inquisitive, analytical, proactive and motivated
Communicate confidently with SMEs to obtain required information
Have good interpersonal skills
Perform general duties where required to support the department
Key Deliverables
Operation and maintenance manuals
Test and commissioning documents
As-installed TOPs in structured PDF
Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Revision and management thereof of core standard documents and information libraries
Qualifications/Experience
Minimum HNC in an engineering discipline
At least three years in a technical author role with a proven ability to originate technical documentation for equipment with electro-mechanical and automation systems
Be able to distil technical, jargon-laden source information into structured, easily understandable texts and illustrations
Familiarity with authoring software (Framemaker preferred), content management, style sheets etc.
Be able to work in a project driven, multi-disciplined department with budget and delivery constraints
ASD STE-100
Proficiency with MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat DC
Familiarity with HVAC systems and controlled air regimes (desirable)
