The Role

Reporting into Commercial Manager, the Trade Compliance Manager will provide specialist support to the business with regarding to import and export requirements. Also responsible for:

  • The tactical compliance management of all import and export issues

  • Logistics management

  • Applicable processes and policies

  • Deliver trade and compliance training through the business

  • Act as primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all compliance matters

  • Business acquisition and new licence activities

  • Support Head of Contracts and customer services

  • Records management and document retention

  • Export and law and procedures, Tariffs and duties, licences etc

  • Liaise with international trade exports authorities on behalf of the business

  • Audit all stakeholder performances

  • Works with Credit Manager to ensure compliance relating to transportation/documentation requirements for Letters of Credit

  • Visitors, shipping, imports, travel

  • Support all Import and Export licences (UK, US & EU)

  • Ensure correct classification against Military licences

  • Perform contract reviews

  • Maintain good customer relationships

  • Point of contact for customers regarding any compliance related queries

  • Ensure shipping subcontractor is supported as necessary

  • Support compliance activities at other sites

  • Resolve customer complaints or internal issues in relation to export or logistics

  • Maintain certifications

  • Adhere to legislations

The Person

The Trade Compliance Manager based in the Gloucester area will need the following experience:


  • Must have right to work in the UK/US/EU contracts

  • Relevant qualifications or time served

  • Experience of export and customs compliance


  • Proven experience in UK, EU & US Military and Government contracting

  • Working with a large-scale importer/exporter of goods

  • Experience of working with suppliers

  • Logistics experience

  • Experience working with company procedures

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Ability to work in cross functional team

  • Strong influencing skills/ Problem solving skills

  • Self starter


  • Experience Aviation (Air Cargo) Security

  • Knowledge of General Data Protection Regs

  • University degree (ideally in engineering or business)

  • IT literacy
