AEROSPACE

BLACKBURN, HALIFAX, PRESTON, BOLTON

The Role
This role based in Blackburn is a hands-on position that is responsible for the welding of Aviation/Aerospace components. Reporting to the Section Leader the Welder will part of a team responsible for:

  • This position will primarily work on productionised components

  • NPI - New Product Introduction

  • Working to tight tolerances

  • Experience in fitting small diameter tubes for Orbital welding to precise tolerances

  • Undertake TIG welding (manual, automatic and Orbital) in Aerospace

  • Fall in line with welding controls and processes

  • Read, interpret and follow batch cards ensuring that batch card discipline

  • General maintenance of machinery, jigs and fixtures is required to ensure a clean and healthy working environment

  • Reduce welding non-conformances and work to best practices

  • Assist with corrective actions and assist with route cause analysis

  • Support business improvement initiatives

The Person

Based out of the Blackburn office the ideal Welder will need the following skill set:

ESSENTIAL

  • Relevant qualifications ie. City and Guilds / HNC etc

  • 5 years' Aviation/Aerospace experience

  • Fusion welding

  • TIG welding - manual, automatic or orbital

  • Experience with titanium and nickel based alloys

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Experience fitting small diameter tubes for orbital welding to precise tolerances

  • General maintenance of machinery/ jigs/ fixtures

  • Ability to work as a team and on own initiative as required

DESIRABLE

  • Time served apprentice

The Package

£25,473 basic

+ shift allowance between 15% & 25%

37 hours per week, early Friday finish

10% pension

10% death in service benefit
