Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre Project
Location: Belgium (EU passport required)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer for a major data centre project in Belgium. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly within the data centre industry, and must hold a valid EU passport. You will be responsible for the design, installation, and management of HVAC, cooling systems, and other mechanical components crucial for data centre operations. This is a project-based role with an opportunity to work on high-profile, cutting-edge facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the design, implementation, and commissioning of HVAC systems, chilled water plants, and other mechanical systems in accordance with data centre specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, architects, and construction managers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Conduct site surveys, assess technical requirements, and develop detailed mechanical engineering plans.
- Ensure compliance with energy efficiency, cooling performance, and regulatory standards (LEED, BREEAM, etc.).
- Manage the procurement, installation, and testing of mechanical equipment, ensuring timely project delivery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during both the construction and operational phases.
- Provide technical guidance on mechanical design modifications to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure all mechanical works are executed as per project requirements.
- Ensure the safety, health, and environmental standards are maintained during the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data centre mechanical engineering or critical infrastructure projects.
- Proven expertise in HVAC design, cooling systems, and mechanical systems for data centres.
- Familiarity with energy use simulation, thermal management, and cooling efficiency for large-scale projects.
- Experience with international building codes and European MEP standards.
- Proficiency with mechanical engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD software.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid EU passport is mandatory due to the location and project requirements.
- Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
