Working Mums

Rachael  is a senior consultant with Core Talent and has worked for the firm for 6.5 years

“When I went on maternity leave I had regular contact with the company which helped me to still feel part of things.

Usually it was just a general catch-up to see how I was getting on but the closer it got to returning, we set some calls to discuss what I would be doing on my return. So everything was super clear.

The other good thing was that I was invited on all the work socials throughout my maternity leave which was a nice way to keep in touch. Then, coming back there was a lovely warm welcome. They had everything set up for me and a clear plan.”

Everyone was very understanding and open to discussing work patterns. I received a lot of support from Senior Managers – in fact, they asked me what I wanted rather than me having to ask them and this helped so much.

After being back a week it was like I’d never left!

Since then, the firm has really supported me with my family life. They understand family life and nursery hours and are happy for me to work around this. It’s the same if I ever need to leave for emergencies or to work from home.

The most difficult thing about managing work and family life has been taking calls out of hours but Adam and Dave have offered their support with this which helps loads.

Another way the company has helped is by letting me work a four-day week. I’m able to put my children through nursery and still have one day a week where I can spend time with my family.

This is so important to me as a young mum. Spending that extra day with my children means so much.

I know it’s hard coming back to work, but I would say to other experienced recruiters with a family who are considering this to find a company that can offer flexibility around family life. And Core Talent does exactly that.”
