Core Talent are currently looking for a Firmware Engineer to join an engineering company based in the South East Hampshire area. They design touchscreens, force sensing and touch less user interface products using their own patented technology for the Automotive, Industrial and Healthcare industries. Their customer base in international, bringing unrivalled experience in the design, development and deployment of HMI, capacitive touch and innovative microcontroller technology to their customers.

As a Firmware Engineer you will work as part of a team of engineers focused on developing bespoke hardware and firmware in support of the production of our clients products. The role can be split into two main aspects:

1) Supporting the development of new features to meet market requirements in embedded on RISC-V based platforms

2) Support customers in the integration or pre-sale stages to ensure the highest quality solutions as required byt automotive and industrial customers.

This role requires both inventive and creative embedded development skills with

strong ties to resource limited devices. At the same time the role requires a tenacity to detail to ensure that we produce quality solutions over multiple build variants.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time split between writing C code to implement suitable algorithms and new features and creating test environments to simplify and automate the process of evaluating the performance of the algorithms for the whole chip level

solution.

Requirements

  • A degree (or close international equivalent) in Electronics or Physics (2-1 or better).
  • Other subjects will be considered if the candidate can display good aptitude in the required disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience of embedded C coding (2+ years).
  • Hands-on experience of software unit testing.
  • Hands-on experience creating test environments to evaluate functional performance
  • High-level of numeracy.
  • Experience of working within an ISO9000 framework with version controls.
  • Demonstrable record of project completion.
  • Familiarity with code versioning systems such as Git and SVN.
