We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based in Greater Manchester who specialise in precision engineering for the automotive, rail, marine and aerospace sector. This is a permanent role with a salary from of up to per annum dependent on experience.

The role

Working within a collaborative engineering team, the mechanical design engineer will take the lead on designated projects, providing innovative solutions for conceptual and re-engineering mechanical designs. Other responsibilities will include:

• Providing mechanical design solutions for complex special purpose machinery, some with advanced automation, in response to customer requirements,

• Interpreting concepts and transferring these to design models

• Leading engineering design projects to programme and to budget

• Leading meetings and motivating others to achieve project milestones

• Completing complex assembly and detail manufacturing drawings using 3D Cad (experience of Solidedge / Solidworks would be an advantage)

• Preparing Bill of Materials following final design

• Liaising with Procurement to ensure accurate and timely component sourcing

• Liaising with Manufacturing and Production Engineering to ensure accurate machine build.

The Person

• HND/HNC or degree qualified Mechanical Design Engineer

• Blue-Sky thinker with a strong understanding of engineering principals and possess the confidence to translate conceptual ideas in to detailed mechanical designs

• You will have sound experience of working with CAD packages, and knowledge of using a MRP system would be advantageous.
