Our client is a leading international MEP contractor specialising in the design, installation, and commissioning of complex building services systems across data centre and mission-critical sectors. With a strong pipeline of projects across Europe, they are seeking a Commissioning Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical) to join their permanent team in Finland.

Role Summary

The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing commissioning activities for all electrical or mechanical systems, ensuring that systems are fully tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with design, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and carry out commissioning activities for electrical or mechanical systems on a large-scale data centre project.
• Develop and manage commissioning documentation including test scripts, checklists, and progress reports.
• Supervise and support commissioning technicians and subcontractors during testing and start-up phases.
• Conduct system walkdowns, pre-functional checks, and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Liaise closely with design, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure all commissioning works are executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with specifications and standards.
• Lead client witness testing and manage the successful handover of systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in commissioning practices and project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree or trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a commissioning role within data centre, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of building services systems (e.g. LV/MV, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, BMS).
• Familiarity with commissioning procedures, documentation, and standards (BS, ASHRAE, CIBSE, etc.).
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, international project environment.
• EU passport or valid right to work in Finland preferred.
