Substation Construction Manager – EMEA

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Substation Construction Manager to lead the on-site construction and commissioning of HV/MV substations supporting large-scale data centre projects across EMEA.

The role will take responsibility for coordinating EPC contractors, subcontractors and specialist trades, ensuring the substation is delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards through to commissioning and energisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction of HV/MV substations including civils, structures, electrical equipment, cabling and earthing.
• Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and suppliers against programme, quality and safety requirements.
• Coordinate installation of transformers, GIS/AIS, MV switchgear and associated systems.
• Coordinate HV cable installation, jointing and termination where required.
• Develop and manage construction and commissioning programmes.
• Coordinate closely with the wider data centre construction and MEP teams.
• Manage interfaces with TSOs, DSOs and grid operators during inspections, testing and energisation.
• Review RAMS, method statements, lifting plans and ITPs.
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, commissioning, energisation and final handover.
• Manage RFIs, site changes, technical queries, snagging and punch lists.
• Track progress, manpower and productivity and provide regular project reporting.

Experience Required

• 7+ years' construction/site management experience within electrical infrastructure, power, utilities, industrial or data centre projects.
• Strong electrical construction background with HV/MV experience.
• Experience with substations, grid connections, transformers, switchgear or HV cabling highly desirable.
• Experience working for an EPC, contractor or design-and-build organisation.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning and energisation.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multiple disciplines on site.
• Strong focus on health & safety and quality.
• Electrical Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
• English-speaking with local European languages advantageous.
• Willingness to travel/work across EMEA.
