Job Description: Electrical Project Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our team as part of a general contracting project for the construction of a data center in Belgium. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical project management, extensive knowledge of data center infrastructure, and a proven track record in delivering complex electrical projects within budget and schedule. As the Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all electrical aspects of the project, from planning and procurement to execution and commissioning.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Management:

    • Collaborate with the project team to develop a comprehensive electrical project plan, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders, design professionals, and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and alignment of project objectives.
    • Monitor and track project progress, identifying and resolving any issues or deviations from the plan in a timely manner.
  2. Electrical System Design and Coordination:

    • Review and analyze electrical plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and regulations.
    • Collaborate with the design team to optimize electrical system layouts, equipment selection, and energy efficiency strategies.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to procure electrical materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications.
  3. Subcontractor Management:

    • Identify and evaluate subcontractors for electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring their capabilities align with project requirements.
    • Manage subcontractor performance, including contract administration, progress tracking, and resolution of any issues or conflicts.
    • Conduct regular meetings with subcontractors to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals and expectations.
  4. Budget and Cost Control:

    • Develop and manage the electrical project budget, closely monitoring expenses, change orders, and potential cost overruns.
    • Collaborate with the cost control team to track and analyze project costs, providing accurate and timely reports to project stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering without compromising project quality and functionality.
  5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and project specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems to identify and rectify any non-compliance issues.
    • Collaborate with the project team to address design changes, technical challenges, and other project-related issues.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, RFIs, change orders, and other relevant records.
    • Prepare regular status reports and updates on electrical project activities, communicating progress, risks, and issues to the project team and management.
    • Ensure proper documentation for project closeout, including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and warranties.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical project management, particularly within data center construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and codes/regulations relevant to data center projects.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project team members.
  • Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and commitment to ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical designs.
