The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Manufacturing Project Engineer to support and enhance CNC machining operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with structured project management, focusing on process improvement, machine installation, tooling optimisation, and technical documentation. You will work closely with production, engineering teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure equipment, processes, and training meet the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support across CNC machining operations
Design and develop fixtures, jigs, tooling, and work-holding solutions
Select appropriate cutting tools and optimise machining strategies
Improve tooling, machining methods, and overall process efficiency
Create, update, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation
Deliver operator training on processes and best practices
Manage engineering and manufacturing projects using structured project management methodologies
Plan and track projects using Microsoft Project
Lead machine installations and commissioning activities
Coordinate contractors and suppliers to ensure safe and effective delivery
Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
Communicate technical updates and project progress across teams
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and manufacturing processes
Milling experience
Experience designing fixtures and specifying cutting tools
Proven track record improving machining tooling or processes
Experience creating SOPs and manufacturing documentation
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Demonstrable experience managing engineering/manufacturing projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Project
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
Strong communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable (Training Available)
PRINCE2 (or equivalent project management qualification)
Previous experience as a machine operator
CAD experience (e.g., SolidWorks or Inventor)
Background in precision machining industries such as aerospace or automotive
Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, TPM, or other continuous improvement methodologies
Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
