Operations Manager

Location: Bolton, United Kingdom
Salary: £85,000 per annum

This role is responsible for leading the operational delivery of advanced highly bespoke complex construction projects, with a particular focus on healthcare, pharmaceutical and cleanroom environments. You will manage a department of around 10 people across design, projects, and pre-construction, ensuring programmes, quality, compliance and commercial outcomes are achieved. You will also support project costings, providing input during tendering and pre-construction to help secure and shape work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a multi-disciplinary team across design, projects and pre-construction.
• Oversee the delivery of healthcare/pharmaceutical/cleanroom projects, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and compliance.
• Contribute to costings, estimates and project pricing; review budgets, risks, opportunities and value engineering proposals.
• Drive operational performance, reporting on KPIs, programme, resourcing, margins and client satisfaction.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve processes, introduce new ideas and enhance delivery capability.
• Champion best practice in site operations, CDM, QA/QC and commissioning handover.

Requirements

• Proven operations/department management experience within construction or building services.
• Strong healthcare or pharmaceutical project experience, ideally within cleanrooms or controlled environments.
• Background in building services or construction; M&E experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrable experience supporting project costings, tendering or pre-construction commercial activities.
• Excellent people skills: a strong manager who can influence, coach and build high-performing teams.
• Confident communicator with the ability to manage client expectations and internal stakeholders.
• Driven, proactive and motivated by challenge, with a continuous improvement mindset.
