Our client is very well established in the Data Centre space, in the US & Europe markets – they have joined forces with another very well-known client and invested in a manufacturing centre in Poland. In this space, all manufacturing for the Data Centres will take place.

 

This job spec is inclusive of duties to include all areas, although some duties may not be listed, we also encourage a phone call with myself to explain the role and business in more detail as there is a lot of points which can’t transfer over a job spec!

 

Role Overview

The Operations Site Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day activities within a manufacturing facility focused on metal strut production and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) frame assembly. This role holds full accountability for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, workforce management, and overall operational performance.

The successful candidate will build and lead a high-performing manufacturing function, driving operational excellence through lean principles, structured processes, and strong leadership. Operating within a fast-paced, high-growth environment, this role requires the ability to scale operations, meet customer demands, and ensure consistent project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all site operations including production, assembly, warehousing, logistics, inventory control, and facility management.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to support production growth, customer demand, and site scalability.
  • Establish a culture focused on safety, accountability, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with production targets and customer project schedules.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Project Management teams.
  • Act as the primary operational leader on-site, driving performance and accountability across all functions.
  • Ensure on-time delivery performance across all customer orders and project shipments.
  • Drive production output and schedule adherence to meet key project milestones.
  • Monitor and improve key operational KPIs including delivery performance, quality, productivity, capacity, inventory accuracy, and safety metrics.
  • Lead daily production meetings and KPI reviews to track performance and drive improvements.
  • Manage workforce planning, labour utilisation, and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
  • Lead quality initiatives focused on right-first-time delivery and defect reduction.
  • Support ISO 9001 processes, including corrective actions, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and internal standards.
  • Lead safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.
  • Drive capacity planning and productivity improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Implement lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Optimise material flow, warehouse layout, kitting processes, and production workflows.
  • Support ERP system utilisation for production tracking, reporting, and operational control.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead supervisors and production teams, building a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Establish training, performance management, and succession planning frameworks.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience within fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, and capacity management.
  • Ability to analyse operational data and drive measurable performance improvements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple functions.
  • Experience working with ERP systems for production, inventory, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving skills.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 8–10+ years’ experience in manufacturing or operations leadership roles.
  • Experience managing complex manufacturing, modular assembly, or industrial operations is essential.
  • Background in MEP systems, data centre infrastructure, modular construction, prefabrication, or industrial assembly environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience within high-growth or start-up manufacturing environments is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting large-scale project delivery and logistics coordination is preferred.
