Role Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Manager to lead the safe, structured delivery of electrical commissioning activities across multiple data centre projects. You will provide hands-on expertise through commissioning Levels 1–5/IST, oversee integrated testing, and drive consistent quality, programme adherence, and compliance. This role is electrically biased and requires strong leadership and a disciplined troubleshooting procedure to resolve complex system issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute end-to-end electrical commissioning, including Levels 1–5/IST, ensuring readiness gates are met and documented.
- Manage and mentor commissioning engineers and specialist subcontractors, allocating resources and setting daily priorities.
- Develop, review, and implement commissioning plans, scripts, method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work controls.
- Coordinate integrated systems testing (IST) with client, main contractor, and vendor teams, including witness testing and sign-off.
- Apply a robust troubleshooting procedure: fault isolation, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, retesting, and lessons learned.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, local regulations, and project QA/QC requirements; maintain accurate commissioning records and handover packs.
- Drive safe energisation, operational readiness, and smooth transition to operations, including training and O&M support.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on commissioning experience through Levels 1–5/IST within mission-critical or data centre environments.
- Demonstrable experience delivering multiple data centre projects, ideally in parallel or phased handovers.
- Strong electrical bias: MV/LV systems, switchgear, UPS, generators, protection relays, PDUs, earthing, and BMS/EPMS interfaces.
- Experience leading a team, influencing stakeholders, and managing subcontractor performance.
- Excellent planning, reporting, and documentation skills; confident with commissioning schedules and test records.
- Strong understanding of health & safety best practice, including LOTO, energisation procedures, and safe systems of work.
